About Me

Hello, bonjour, aaniin!

I’m Meaghan Kent, a mom, writer, explorer, and last but not least, a photographer.

I specialize in lifestyle photography within the Algoma region. I pride myself on capturing special moments on wedding days, amongst couples, families, friends, sports teams, pets and their masters, and more. I provide my clients with a large selection of creative, unique, and fresh photos, both candid and posed. My photos always tell a story and show a range of emotions.

My photos have a unique style and are easily recognizable within the region. My lifestyle photography features either a soft, matted finish, or a bold, custom black and white. Unlike other photographers, I don’t shy away from my clients. I like to be close. Maybe too close. I shoot at an arm’s length from my clients, ensuring that I capture all of the raw emotions: a shy smile, a coy look, a secret laugh, or a few tears. While the majority of my photos are close-ups, I will also shoot wider, capturing the landscape and surroundings. My landscape photography features vibrant, crisp colours.

My studio is located on my beautiful waterfront property on St. Joseph Island in Richards Landing, Ontario, about 40 minutes from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. My studio is a safe, inclusive space, welcoming for everyone. My studio is two floors. The bottom floor is reserved for milestone, newborn, and cake smash sessions. The top floor is for boudoir and lifestyle sessions.

I hold a Master of Arts in History from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts Honours in History and English from Algoma University.

As a photographer, I have been voted The Sault Star's Reader's Choice Best Photographer and Studio of Sault Ste. Marie from 2019 - 2022. I was awarded the prestigious Leadership Award at the 6th Annual Strive AVA Gala, as well as the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award, and the Arts, Music, and Culture Award at the 5th Annual Strive AVA Gala. I was also named the the Platinum Photographer of Sault Ste. Marie by Community Votes in 2020, 2022, and 2023, and the Gold Photographer in 2021. My work has been featured in prominent international magazines, including Women’s World, and in national promotions, including David Suzuki's The Blue Dot Movement.
