FAQ

When is the Best Time to Book a Maternity Photoshoot?

The best time for a maternity photoshoot is between 32 - 35 weeks gestation. This allows for your belly to be nice and big, but is also usually before you run the risk of going into pre-term labour. This time frame also is usually before you begin to put on extra water weight and begin swelling in your hands, face, and feet, making you extra uncomfortable.

What is "The Wardrobe"?

The Wardrobe is my client closet. It features custom, high-end maternity gowns that were designed specifically for maternity photography. I have over 70 garments - dresses, shawls, and mix and match pieces - designed to flatter and fit different bodies of all shapes and sizes.

With every maternity photoshoot, moms are welcome to pick at least two garments to use with their photoshoot at no extra charge.

Moms are welcome to try on dresses ahead of time - they can come to my studio for a private fitting or I can deliver gowns before their shoot. I can also bring gowns to the shoot for them to try on before having photos taken. Any garments that don't fit perfectly, are photoshopped to make it look like the perfect fit.

I handle all of the cleaning of The Wardrobe pieces.

What do I Wear Under My Maternity Dress from The Wardrobe?

My number one rule with any photoshoot is to be comfortable. And this is the same for my maternity shoots. Be comfortable.

Wear what is comfortable. If you're more comfortable wearing thong underwear than high-waisted maternity underwear, do that. If it's cold outside (in the winter months, for example), wear leggings under your dress to stay warm. Wear shoes that make you comfortable - maybe that's flip flops, Birkenstocks, boots, or just socks. Your shoes really won't show in the photos, so it's okay if only your "ugly" shoes are all that fits right now. You don't need to wear a strapless bra either. Wear what fits and is comfortable for you.

Anything that shows through the dress, I will photoshop out - panty lines, bra straps, bra lines, spanx, leggings, etc. I will smoothen everything out in Photoshop to make everything appear to be fitting perfect.

My Belly Isn't "Picture Perfect". Can You Fix it?

Stretchmarks, lines, B-bellies, outie belly buttons, and extra hair growth around you belly button are all part of pregnancy. I will go over all of this during our photoshoot, and ask how you are feeling toward your pregnancy belly. Some people are very insecure about how their body has changed and will ask for their belly to be Photoshopped, and that's okay. I will gladly make any adjustments you ask. Others wish to have their pregnancy belly left as is, and this is also okay. I want you to be 100 per cent happy with your photos, so you make the call.
